ACAN Youth Concert Benefiting Central Texas Food Bank

Austin Chinese-American Network is sponsoring an online youth show to demonstrate unity, strength, and kindness of the community to raise fund for Central Texas Food Bank, a local non-profit organization hundreds of ACAN volunteers regularly volunteer in the past few years.

Food Bank is a leader in the fight against hunger for less-fortunate families during the current Covid-19 pandemic. A heart-breaking picture below shows thousands of cars lined up at San Antonio Food Bank as job losses hit hard. Similar long lines were observed at Central Texas Food Bank as well.

 

ACAN Youth Online Concert will be broadcasted on YouTube Live https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daLz-jNtCp4&feature=youtu.be at 3-5:30PM and 8-10:30PM on Saturday 5/9/2020. Welcome to enjoy the free show – the performers are neighbors, friends and kids from our Austin Chinese community.

    奥斯汀华盟支持“Travis郡领养日”

    撰稿： 一修 1月是全国领养月，而第18届“Travis郡领养日”庆祝活动则于11月7号在奥斯汀南面的Gardner-Betts青少年司法中心举行，庆祝39名来自奥斯汀地区的孩子被23个当地家庭领养。 今年庆祝活动的主题是“有家真好”。许多当地组织，个人和官员在过去的一年里都花费了大量时间，帮助把在德州收养系统中的孩子们和愿意领养的家庭搭配起来。今天则有许多志愿者来到这里为这些孩子和他们的新家庭庆祝这一重要的日子。

    【撰稿  明清 摄影 学校老师及义工】 [中国武术]名扬天下。它的重要代表形式 – [中国功夫]不仅将技击寓于搏斗运动与套路运动之中，还具有内外合一，形神兼备的民族风格。[中国功夫]在西方国家的青少年中有一定的影响力。从当年影坛的李小龙到现代的成龙，那些震撼人心的不凡身手，深受美国民众的青睐。 奥斯汀华裔联盟(ACAN)近期在奥斯汀地区高中进行的中国文化推广活动，使美国孩子们与神秘高深的[中国武术]有机会牵手。这项推广活动包括了[中国功夫]，[太极拳]，和[太极功夫扇]三部分。目前，LASA, Dominic Savio Catholic，Westwood, Round Rock 四所高中参与了这项推广活动。
