Community Service Committee
Overview
The Community Services Committee Chair is Wei Liu (刘炜).
The committee organizes community service events for ACAN members. Contact volunteers@acantx.org for questions and suggestions.
Past Projects
The committee has organized many large group community services prior to COVID, including:
- Central Texas Food Bank warehouse shifts. Usually the event attracted more than 100 ACAN volunteers each time.
- Lake Travis Cleanup. This is co-hosted by Keep Lake Travis Beautiful. More than 100 ACAN volunteers participated in this annual event each year to clean up the Lake Travis shores.
- Austin Parks Cleanup. This is co-hosted by Keep Austin Beautiful. Dozens of ACAN volunteers got together quarterly to clean up local community parks such as Commons Ford Ranch Metropolitan Park and Dove Springs Park, and pick up trash along highways (e.g Loop 360).
- Other volunteering events at Animal Shelters, Turkey Trot Water Stations, Texas Books Fair, Texas Wildflowers Center, etc.
Ongoing Projects
Due to the pandemic most of the large-group volunteering projects organized by the Community Services Committee have been paused. We expect these events will gradually return back to normal in the near future.
