ACAN member CJ’s (a.k.a. Earthworm) presence in our community is bigger than life! She is a person with one of the biggest heart  (for people in need) that I know of. With an incredible amount of energy, she marches on and, along the way, gathers a big crowd with her to serve the community.

    朋友们，2018年中期选举已经打响，华盟呼吁大家关注今年的地方选举。选出的地方官员们，直接影响我们的日常生活。他们决定每年的财产税增幅。由于房产的大幅升值，我们缴纳的财产税增长明显。这些地方官员们，还决定怎么使用我们所缴纳的各种财产税，销售税，地方债券等等。市长和市议员们每年五月至九月份进行下年度市政预算，切分近40亿美元的蛋糕。显然，市长和市议员们的施政理念和政策取向，将体现在对学校，治安，交通，公共设施与文化环境等的投入，与我们的切身利益紧密相关。

  • 笔酣墨饱看书法-记 [2019奥斯汀中学生书法比赛]

    【撰稿： 明清 摄影： 华盟义工和学校教师】在奥斯汀华裔联盟2018年举办的奥斯汀地区中学中华文化推广的诸多项目中，[中国书法]项目纳新年之瑞气，结淳香之硕果，于元月十二日举办了别开生面的[2019奥斯汀中学生书法比赛]。 比赛场地设在Cedar Ridge 高中。周六早上九点到下午三点，十一所参与华盟文化推广学校中的八所学校(Glenn HS，LASA HS，Cedar Park HS，Cedar Ridge HS，Westwood HS，Dominic Savio Catholic HS，Round Rock，Vandegrift HS) 的八十位学生来到现场参加比赛。另外三所因当天其他活动冲突的学校(Westlake HS，Canyon Vista MS，Connally HS) 也交上了一百份在各自学校完成的比赛作品。其中，有的中学参赛阵容宠大，达八十人之多，而另一些学校参赛人员则相对较少。然而，每个参赛的学生都以极其认真的态度，挥毫完成了一帧帧刚劲有力的参赛作品。
