ByadminAustin Chinese-American Network Statement Board of Directors Dec. 7th, 2020 时值奥斯汀市议会第 10 区 run-off election，现任市议员 Alison Alter 近期公 布了一纸竞选公告。所列亚裔社区领袖名单含华盟的创始人之一，前任会长 Peter Chao，并在他 的名字之后，明确标明 Peter 为 “Founder, Austin Chinese American Network”. 由于华盟是 501(c)3 公益组织，按 IRS 规定和有关法律，501(c))3 组织不可以以组织的名义支持任 何竞选的候选人, 华盟曾在 2020 年 1 月 1 日发布公告 (https://bit.ly/3gwvtHb) 。当部分社区成员对 Alter 议员的公告有疑问的时候，华盟理事会立刻咨询了相关法律和人员，特此正式予以澄清： 1）根据相关的 IRS 规定和有关法律，501(c)3 非盈利机构虽然不可以以组织的名义支持任何竞选 候选人，但组织的任何成员可以以私人的名义支持任何候选人, 个人在非盈利组织的头衔可以用于 但仅限于身份识别。请参看： https://www.nonprofitvote.org/documents/2011/11/nonprofit-staffand-elections.pdf/…
