ACAN to host Austin Chinese Culture Festival (ACCF 2023)

After 3 years of interruptions, Austin Chinese Culture Festival (ACCF) finally returns to the Lunar New Year season to celebrate the arrival of the Year of Rabbit. We cordially invite you and your loved ones to the beautiful Brentwood Christian School campus 12pm – 6pm on Saturday February 11, to experience activities steeped in traditional Chinese cultural elements: dragon and lion dance, Asian cuisines, authentic Chinese cultural exhibits, crafts, photo booths, games, and of course, extraordinary live performances!

一、活动主题 奥斯汀华裔联盟 于2017年3月9日正式成立了。英文名称为 Austin Chinese-American Network, 简称ACAN。根据联盟的章程， 奧斯汀华裔联盟将致力于服务本地华人社区，通过组织丰富多彩 的活动以促进华人社区的交流和相互理解， 以此弘扬中华文化，维护华人权益，增强华人群体的凝聚力。 华裔联盟在此向全体奥斯汀华人征求会标设计，特举办一次会标设计大赛(logo design contest)。鼓励有美术特长人士包括中小学生踊跃参与（每人限作品一幅）。

华盟参与“让奥斯汀更美丽”公园清理活动

[海舟报道] 2018年4月14日，一个阳光明媚的周六，奥斯汀华盟参与组织了Keep Austin besutiful的社区清理活动。华盟近70人志愿者大军，来到城南的Dove Springs公园清理垃圾。公园很美丽幽静，葱郁的树林，野花烂漫的草丛，绿草如茵的高尔夫球场和足球场。志愿者们在林间小溪边却发现不少垃圾。多是饮料罐、酒瓶和饮料杯，还发现了一些让人意外的丢弃物。短短两个小时，大家收集了成堆垃圾。每个人为自己的收获而骄傲。

ACAN partners with ATXHospitalMeals in support of health workers and local restaurants

AUSTIN, Texas, April 16, 2020 — ATXHospitalMeals, the Austin-based grassroots organization mobilizing to feed healthcare workers through donations that go directly to support local restaurants, announced today a partnership with the Austin Chinese-American Network (ACAN), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a core mission to “serve our community and foster our heritage.” This collaboration will allow both organizations to augment and expand their respective charitable programs and enable ATXHospitalMeals to accept tax-exempt donations and company matches. Austin construction manager company Flintco is the first corporate giving partner matching dollar-for-dollar donations given through May 1 up to $15,000.

4月29日Food Bank义务劳动纪实

五一国际劳动节即将来临，还能有什么活动比义务劳动更能让我们，尤其是孩子们深刻体会劳动的乐趣，过一个有意义的周末呢？今天奥斯汀华裔联盟组织了一次Central Texas Food Bank的仓库义工活动。近百名华人从四面八方赶过来，热火朝天地干了两个半小时，清理分装了4765磅食品，2175磅面包和甜食。这些食物最后会派送到奥斯汀市及周边几个地区的食品发放点，免费分给有需要的人。

【Sherry 中文编译：西红柿】摄影 华盟义工 中医（药）TCM起源于中国古代，到今天已有数千年的历史。它涵盖了中草药，食疗，以及从精神意念到全身各处方方面面的疾病诊治和预防，如针灸，按摩，太极等。中医（药）不但在中国被广为应用于防病治病，而且近年来在西方社会也渐受追捧。 不久前，在一项由Austin Chinese-American Network 发起和资助, 由来自大Austin区域8所高中学生参加的活动中（Connelly HS, Canyon Vista HS, Westwood HS, Round Rock HS, LASA, Glenn HS, Cedar Park HS, Dominic Savio Catholic HS)， 学生们得以有机会与中医师们攀谈，并涉足这一起自远古的科学理念，了解它的发展史，它的诊治方法，以及它独到的疗效。医师们还演示了针灸的过程，学生中更不乏勇敢的尝试者。在为期半天的时间里，所有参加活动的学生都对中医药产生了浓厚的兴趣，同时也认识到了今天在这里推广它可谓意益深远！
