20th Annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Cultural Month

On May 1st, proudly representing Austin Chinese-American Network (ACAN) the Performing Arts Group (PAG) helped kick off the celebration of Asian American Heritage Month organized by Asian-American Employee Network (AAEN) at the City of Austin.

In attendance at the Palmer event center were Austin city mayor Steve Adler, deputy mayor Elaine Hart, and district 6 council member Jimmy Flannigan, to name a few.

The Taiwan aboriginal dance, Standing On the Mountain Top, extols the life of the indigenous peoples of Taiwan. Their perseverance, endurance and collaboration are expressed in a happy and enchanting music along with exciting and cheering choreography.

During the celebration, China was recognized as invented the fireworks, among other things! Fittingly, ACAN PAG members used this energetic dance to close today’s Celebration with a loud bang, sounded like the fireworks our ancestors invented 2,000 years ago!
