ACAN proudly announced that 34 applicants have been approved to receive the President’s Volunteering Service Award for the 2019-2020 school year (September 1st, 2019- August 31, 2020). It’s our delight to see so many of our youth are doing wonderful works to serve our community (not just the Asian community, but the community in general)….

AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Austin Chinese-American Network (ACAN) is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a prestigious Thrive Grant from the City of Austin Cultural Arts division (https://www.austintexas.gov/thrive). The $85,000 grant per year for two years aims to support diverse cultural and arts communities in Austin, enhancing the city’s image as a welcoming, inclusive, and diverse tourist destination.
In the past year of my volunteer journey, I’ve really embraced an ancient Chinese saying: “Don’t underestimate the power of doing good, no matter how small the act.” This proverb has truly come alive for me as I’ve seen firsthand how even the tiniest acts of kindness can make a huge impact on our community….
