Austin Chinese-American Network (ACAN) Awarded Thrive Grant by the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division

AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Austin Chinese-American Network (ACAN) is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a prestigious Thrive Grant from the City of Austin Cultural Arts division (https://www.austintexas.gov/thrive). The $85,000 grant per year for two years aims to support diverse cultural and arts communities in Austin, enhancing the city’s image as a welcoming, inclusive, and diverse tourist destination.

ACAN is honored to be among the 36 awardees selected from 146 applying organizations in the Austin area. Many of the fellow awardees have significantly longer operating histories and much larger operating budgets. ACAN’s successful application is a testament to the dedication and hard work of its members, volunteers, and supporters since its founding in 2016.

“We are incredibly proud to receive this grant from the City of Austin,” said Dr. Hugh Li, President of ACAN. “It will enable us to further our mission of “fostering our heritage” by promoting Chinese culture and art, and fostering cross-cultural exchange in the Austin community. This grant will allow us to expand our programs and reach a broader audience, ultimately contributing to Austin’s vibrant cultural landscape.”

ACAN has been serving the Austin community since 2016, offering a range of community service projects, cultural and educational programs, including Chinese Culture in Classrooms, cultural events, and community outreach initiatives. The Thrive grant will allow ACAN to continue and expand these programs, with a particular focus on engaging with culturally underserved communities in Austin.

The City of Austin’s Cultural Arts Division created the Thrive program to provide critical support to organizations working in the cultural arts sector. The program aims to ensure that Austin’s cultural and arts scenes remain vibrant, diverse, and accessible to all.
