奧斯汀华裔联盟(Austin Chinese-American Network, 简称ACAN)于2017年3月9日正式成立为一个独立的非盈利组织,致力于服务本地华人社区,弘扬中华文化,维护华人权益,增强华人群体的凝聚力。奧斯汀华裔联盟已经正式获得美国税务局(IRS)作为 501(c)(3)公益组织的认证。联盟将以丰富多彩的活动形式促进华人社区的交流和相互理解,鼓励本地华裔同胞关心政务,参与公共事务和社区服务,希望有更多的华人成为主流社会的领袖。

华盟经常举办各种联谊或教育活动,如卡拉OK,歌舞,棋牌,排舞班,交谊舞班,美食教室,攝影教室,教育讲座,公共议题讲座,亲子关系讲座,健康讲座, 静思茶道,夏日游湖,金秋烧烤等,吸引了大量的参与者和热心为社区服务的义工同胞。

ACAN MISSION

The following video introduces you to the Austin Chinese-American Network (ACAN).  It briefly reviewed ACAN’s efforts in community services, cultural exchanges, member enrichment and education.  Viewers will gain a better appreciation of ACAN’s mission of serving the community and fostering our heritage.  ACAN welcomes friends to join its cause.  Together we can chart a brighter future for our society.

Our Board of Directors

Peter Chao

Founder
Peter is the founder and former president of ACAN. Originally from Taiwan, Peter has lived, worked, and raised two children in Austin for more than two decades. He retired from Charles Schwab in 2018 after 20 years of service. He was inspired to found ACAN in order to create a greater sense of community for Chinese and Chinese Americans in Austin. In his free time, Peter enjoys playing golf, traveling, and watching movies.

Hugh Li

President
Hugh is an entrepreneur with a Ph.D. in chemistry. He has a long career in electronic materials and multiple leadership positions in R&D, marketing, and IP. He enjoys outdoor activities, soccer, tennis, traveling, and reading. Historically, his first name Hugh has been misspelled as Huge, Hue, Hugs, and Huh.

Jean Shaw

Secretary-General
Jean is a Professional Engineer in the environmental engineering field. She is a proud Longhorn. She has served as the Secretary-General since ACAN was established in 2017 and witnessed the growth of this beloved organization. Besides working professionally and volunteering at ACAN, she enjoys dancing, hiking, traveling, and hanging out with friends.

Wei Liu

Vice President, Service Committee Chair
Wei received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Science and Technology of China, and his Master of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. He is currently a Director of Software Engineering in Dell Technologies. In his spare time, Wei likes to play basketball and travel around the world. He has a travel blog at www.wayliu.com and wayliublog.wordpress.com. Wei has been on the ACAN board since its founding in 2017.

Michelle Bao

Vice President, Art Committee Chair
Michelle works as a manager of consultants at an IT company. She is a mother of two children, who has lived in Austin for more than 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoys fitness, singing, and dancing. She has served on the ACAN board for more than 4 years, initially as the board of directors, the chairperson of the Arts committee, and then Vice President of ACAN. She has planned and hosted many Arts committee-sponsored activities. She is also actively mentoring youth through various programs.

Bin Zhong

Vice President
Bin works for IBM Corp. as a software engineer. He has lived in the US for over 30 years in both California and Texas. He loves his community and enjoys bringing like-minded people together to enrich our lives and serve the community. In his leisure time, Bin likes to go outdoors to be in touch with nature. He also occasionally practices photography.

Sandy Fang

Chief Financial Officer
Sandy Fang joined the Austin Chinese American Networks (ACAN) in 2017 and is the Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer since May 2019. She oversees all aspects of ACAN’s finances, including the development and management of budgets, preparation of financial statements and reports. While she is the procurement manager of her full-time job, Sandy also serves as the Treasurer of Westwood Area Band Boosters, a non-profit organization comprised of band students and parents from three middle/high schools in Austin and a board member of Texas Association of Public Purchasers. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and exploring authentic foods wherever she visits.

Angela Qian

Education Committee Chair
Angela has a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a computer science minor and a Master of Science degree in Physics. She is a distinguished member of the Technical Staff and an architect at Dell Technologies. As one of the earliest members at ACAN, Angela enjoys all kinds of volunteering work, and she loves to work with the young generation.

Ed Wu

Youth Committee Chair
Ed has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Peking University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan. He is the founder & CEO of Premier Education Partners and a NOLS Wilderness first responder. Ed loves spending time with his family, doing outdoor adventures and leading youth to volunteer.

Lubing Zhang

Membership Committee Chair
Lubing graduated from the University of Texas at Austin majoring in actuarial science. She is now running her own business. Lubing has a happy family: her husband Daniel, teenage boy Ryan, and lovely dog Mochi. She enjoys traveling, hiking, and reading.

Xinmiao Zhao

Communications Committee Chair
Xinmiao is a physicist by education, an engineer by job, and a mother by choice. She enjoys the outdoors, reading and people meshing.

Jeannie Xiang

Culture Committee Member
Jeannie is a retired scientist and an active Chinese language teacher. She has Masters’s and Doctoral degrees in Microbiological sciences from Texas Tech University. She worked for the Texas Department of State Health Services for 15 years and has been teaching Chinese language and Culture since 2006 in the Austin community. She has helped more than 100 students achieve an excellent score in Chinese AP exams. Jeannie has been a volunteer for ACAN since 2018. and she enjoys teaching Chinese class and serving the community.

Yuan Chen

Art Committee Member
Yuan has a Master of Science degree in Math and Computer Science. He has been a Board of Directors member for 4-5 years. He enjoys singing in his free time.

William Fang

Art Committee Member
William is a senior software engineer with over fifteen years of experience in application development/delivery in public and private-sector environments. He has extensive experience in designing, developing, and supporting SharePoint applications, web interfaces, and web services. He is passionate about cooking and loves the process of researching new recipes and testing them out.

Yeeha He

Membership Committee Member
Yeeha enjoys hiking.

Ning Shaw

Art Committee Member
Ning is a senior software architect at Nokia. He likes golfing, reading, singing, photography, and the outdoors.

Doris Lee

Art Committee Member
Doris likes traveling, singing, hiking and partying with friends. She enjoys to volunteer at ACAN.

Xianfeng (Pioneer) Zhu

Secretary Committee Member
Pioneer now works for Dell and has lived in Austin for 4+ years.

Daling Xu

Culture Committee Member
Daling is a software engineer, she enjoys reading and music.

Helen Wang

Culture Committee Member
Helen has a Mechanical and Educational degree. She worked in public school for 15 years. In her free time, she likes to crochet and cook for stress relief and relaxation. She cannot wait to learn painting and calligraphy in her retirement.

Michael Wei

Secretary Committee Member
Michael Wei, prior to his real estate career, was a data-driven scientist, project manager, and team leader for nearly 20 years. His expertise in data analysis tools, such as Power Business Intelligence (PBI) and regulatory compliance engineering allowed him to provide expert scientific perspective and practical decision-making. He is actively serving Austin metro communities by volunteering as the Vice President of the PTA Council of Round Rock ISD, the Committee member of Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce, and Board of Director of Austin Chinese American Network.

Luqing (Dalu) Wang

Secretary Committee Member
Luqing has a Master’s degree in Computer Science. He enjoys hiking and outdoor activities.
