[明清撰稿]元月下旬，2019 n-CoV病疫在武汉告急，沉浸在迎接中国新年喜悦中的奥斯汀地区华人都坐不住了。当即，武汉病情发展的消息占据了当地华人社团的大小网络，很多人着手联系向灾区捐款捐物事宜。 位于奥斯汀西北区的Canyon Creek 小区是华裔居民较为密集的社区。连日来，同胞们分别行动寻找到不少由美国将捐赠物资邮往国内的可能途径。目前，该小区在二位热心公益事业的华人志愿者主持下，集中统一了小区华人的这次行动。为了有效的支援重症灾区，他们正组织小区内华人集资购买更多的防护物资，并计划通过美国其他华人机构的巳开通渠道向国内运送援助物资。希望Canyon Creek的首批捐赠品会随下批美国通关货物尽快发往灾区。
[Noah Liu] Austin Chinese-American Network partnered with Texas Outdoor Family, a program under Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to host a private camping workshop for members on 9/7-8 at Inks Lake State Park. Our 18 participating families learned important camping and outdoor skills such as setting up a campsite, building a fire, and cooking outdoors. Participants also had the chance to go kayaking, hiking, fishing, stargazing and geocaching within the park. Our families all enjoyed the event greatly, especially the children! We hope that we can organize a similar event sometime in the future.
Austin Chinese-American Network is sponsoring an online youth show to demonstrate unity, strength, and kindness of the community to raise fund for Central Texas Food Bank, a local non-profit organization hundreds of ACAN volunteers regularly volunteer in the past few years.
撰稿 一修 就像每个行业中都有最出名的人物一样，罗博深教授就是那个古老但充满活力的初高中数学竞赛世界中最出名的人。对于喜欢参加数学竞赛的学生们来说，罗博深就是弥赛亚，就是数学大神。 除了是著名的卡耐基梅隆大学（CMU）数学系的终身教授之外 – 这本身就是一个了不起的成就，罗博深还是过去5年美国奥数国家队的首席教练、领队，也是著名的MOSP的组织者- Math Olympiad Summer Program（奥数夏令营）。而MOSP是每年夏天在CMU举办的奥数夏令营，美国奥数国家队的6名成员就是从该夏令营中选拔出来。因此，考进MOSP是每个高中数学学生最大的梦想。当然，罗博深还有更辉煌的成绩：在他的指导下，美国奥数国家队在过去的5年中，曾四度击败强大的，世界冠军拿到手软的中国国家队，三度夺得世界冠军桂冠，并在2019年与中国并列冠军。所以，没错，罗博深就是弥赛亚，就是数学大神。
[April 22, 2020] ACAN is proud to announce being selected as one of the 1st round organizations receiving grants from AllTogetherATX fund, a Covid19 relief fund jointly sponsored by United Way for Greater Austin and Austin Community Foundation, and funded by generous donations from individuals, organizations and corporations, such as National Instruments.
By now, we are sure everyone is very much tuned in to the public health emergency that is engulfing China, and to a lesser degree, yet increasingly, the rest of the world. In the past couple of weeks, we have witnessed with a heavy heart a huge swath of Central China locked down, impacting tens of millions of people during what is traditionally the most festive and most intimate time of the year. From a distance of thousands of miles, we can still acutely feel the worries, the pains, and the desperations of our families, friends, and fellow countrymen across the ocean.
